How to use it

  1. Find your pump's real flow rate in GPM (from the curve for your pump and plumbing, not just the label).
  2. Enter it with your pool volume.
  3. Run the pump for at least one turnover daily, more in heavy use or heat.

What turnover means

Turnover is the time to circulate your entire pool through the filter once. One turnover a day is the common minimum; busy or hot conditions call for more. Note that real flow is usually lower than a pump's rated maximum because of plumbing resistance.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I run my pool pump?
Long enough for at least one full turnover — often 8–12 hours a day. Enter your numbers for your exact turnover time.
Is more turnover better?
More circulation keeps water clearer and chemicals even, but costs energy. One to two turnovers a day is plenty for most home pools.
