How to use it

  1. Test your free chlorine.
  2. Enter it, your target (5 ppm is a safe swim level for most pools), and your volume.
  3. Add neutralizer in small amounts with the pump running, then re-test before adding more.

When to neutralize chlorine

Usually after over-shocking, a chlorine accident, or when you want to swim sooner than the sun can burn it off. If you're not in a hurry, simply uncovering the pool and waiting a day is free — sunlight breaks chlorine down quickly.

Frequently asked questions

What lowers pool chlorine fast?
Sodium thiosulfate (chlorine neutralizer/dechlorinator). It works in minutes, but it's easy to overshoot, so dose in small steps.
Is it safe to swim with high chlorine?
Most guidance says stay out above ~5 ppm. Wait for it to drop or neutralize it down first.
